Regals Are Swept by Chapman

Three-time All-American outfielder Jessamine Maiben hit a run-scoring single off Kathy Proffitt in the ninth inning to lift Chapman to an 11-10 victory over Cal Lutheran and a doubleheader sweep in the regular season wrap-up Wednesday at Chapman.
Cal Lutheran (27-19) came back from a five-run deficit in the top of the seventh to tie the game, 10-10. Johanna La Rocque, who had four runs batted in, tied the game with a bases-loaded triple.
Kylie Gongola, Donna Scott and Sara Carlson each had three hits for Cal Lutheran. Scott hit a three-run home run in the third inning to cut the deficit to 5-4.
In the first game, Chapman (29-6) took advantage of errors by Scott, Mandi Comer and La Rocque to open up a 3-0 lead in the first inning en route to a 4-0 victory.
Chapman freshman Catie Lacy (11-1) pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Proffitt (17-12) was the losing pitcher in both games.
BASEBALL
Cuesta 18, Pierce 3--Kyle Jackson (7-0) pitched a nine-hitter and Aaron Davidson drove in six runs with two home runs for the Cougars (31-6) in a Western State Conference game at Cuesta.
