Select Software Tools: The Irvine vendor of component-based modeling and management tools lost $3.2 million, or 31 cents a share, in the first quarter, compared with profit of $529,000, or 5 cents a share, for the 1997 first quarter. Revenue advanced 15%, to $7.1 million from $6.2 million.
