Gorny Paces Littlerock’s Victory Over Quartz Hill

Chris Gorny had 16 kills and Marc Mailander had a school-record nine aces to give Littlerock High a 15-10, 15-4, 15-8 Golden League victory over Quartz Hill in a boys’ volleyball match Wednesday at Littlerock.
Mailander also had 13 kills for Littlerock (10-1, 5-0 in league play), which took sole possession of first.
Quartz Hill fell to 8-2, 4-1.
In other boys’ volleyball matches:
Van Nuys d. Canoga Park, 15-9, 15-11, 15-6--Ioannis Avramis had 22 kills for Van Nuys (8-3, 6-2) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Canoga Park.
Newbury Park d. Westlake, 15-12, 15-9, 15-5--Robert Congelliere had nine kills for the Panthers (8-3, 7-2) in a Marmonte League victory at Newbury Park.
HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL
Chaminade 6, Louisville 0--Maureen LeCocq (7-6-1) pitched her seventh shutout, scattering three hits and striking out 11 for visiting Chaminade (7-6-1, 2-0) in a Mission League game at Tarzana Park.
Alemany 2, Harvard-Westlake 0--Kim Diener (14-6) pitched a three-hitter for her seventh shutout for Alemany (14-6, 2-1) in a Mission League game at Valley College.
BOYS’ SWIMMING
Hart 115, Burbank 55--Hart’s medley relay team of Ryan Parmenter, Anthony Ervin, Christian Kneppeck and Eric Pritchett qualified for the Southern Section championship meet with a time of 1:41.06.
GIRLS’ SWIMMING
Hart 136, Burbank 30--Hart’s Christine Castellano won four events, including the 500 freestyle, which she finished in 5:33.80 to qualify for the Southern Section championship meet. The Indians (5-1, 4-0) have not lost a dual league meet in 16 years.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Calabasas 14, Chaminade 4--No. 1 singles player Alex Menichini didn’t lose a game in three sets for Calabasas (10-4) in a nonleague home match.
Westlake 10, Camarillo 8--No. 1 singles player Erik Janson won his three sets to pace Westlake (11-0, 9-0) in a Marmonte League match at Camarillo.
El Camino Real 5, Taft 2--No. 4 singles player Jon Brevan won his two sets, 6-2, 6-2, for El Camino Real (13-0, 10-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Taft.
BOYS’ DIVING
West Valley League Diving Final--Bryce Lerman of Birmingham scored 494.3 points to win the one-meter event at Pierce College.
GIRLS’ DIVING
West Valley League Diving Final--El Camino Real’s Christina Flynn won the championship with 437.8 points in the one-meter event at Pierce College.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
Cal Lutheran 7, Westmont 2--Anthony Olden hit his team-leading eighth home run and first in six weeks for Cal Lutheran (22-7) in a nonconference victory in Thousand Oaks. Jeremy Schlosser added two hits for the Kingsmen.
MEN’S GOLF
Canyons 367, Santa Barbara 368, Ventura 376, Bakersfield 395, Hancock 425--Alex Kuyumjian shot a four-under-par 68 for Canyons (35-1) in a Western State Conference match at the Santa Maria Country Club in Santa Maria.
