Health Expo to Offer a Variety of Services

To make a variety of medical tests available to people without insurance, Valley College’s Student Health Center will sponsor its fourth annual Health Fair Expo on Wednesday.
The event, co-sponsored by the American Red Cross, the Healthcare Assn. of Southern California, Sav-On Drugs and Chevron, will offer free or low-cost health screenings. Services available include HIV testing, stroke screening, pregnancy testing, TB testing and immunizations, blood-pressure screenings and massage therapy.
All screenings are available to the public at relatively low costs, including $25 mammograms, said Sonia Auza, a coordinator at the center. Anyone interested in the stroke screenings must make an appointment by calling (800) 777-5600.
All tests are conducted by certified medical physicians.
The purpose of the expo, Auza said, “is to reach people who would not be able to pay for these kinds of tests. At least they can get their annual check-up here.”
In addition to the testing, there will be health education exhibits.
The expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Monarch Hall, 5800 Fulton Ave.
For further information, including preregistration, contact the health center at (818) 780-0652.
