Gay and Lesbian Center to Present Awards

The Gold Coast Business and Professional Alliance and the Gay and Lesbian Community Center will honor recipients of the 1998 Community Service Awards during a dinner-auction benefit Friday.
The honors and winners: Drew Setterfield AIDS Service Award--Phyllis and Edward Champagne and their family; Mark Vartanian AIDS Advocacy Award--Hugo Leckey; Corporate Service Award: Paddy McDermott’s, a Ventura bar, and Carol Chandlee Women’s Health Services Award--Marianne Slaughter.
Lesbigay Community Service Awards will be presented to Cindy Burrell; Ventura Bears, a men’s social club; Ron Cayou, and Neil Coffman-Grey.
Proceeds help fund the Lesbigay Student Scholarship Fund.
CLU Music Professor Receives Honor
Carl Bertram Swanson received the Outstanding Scandinavian-American Award from the American Scandinavian Foundation--Thousand Oaks Chapter. Swanson is a professor of music at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. The honor recognizes his “many years of outstanding service as an educator and organist at CLU and Pierce College.”
