Home Warranties Big Seller in ’97

Californians purchased a record 292,047 home warranty contracts on existing homes last year, an 11.5% increase over 1996, according to the Home Warranty Assn. of California.
A home warranty, which costs from $200 to $300, typically covers major operating systems for one year. Items covered include plumbing, heating and electrical systems and water heaters.
