A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 9-year-old Highland Park girl, who was hit by a stray bullet at home, police said.
Isaac Christopher Perez, 21, was arrested Monday evening at his house in the 5200 block of East Baltimore Street, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jim McCann. He was arrested on charges of attempted murder. The victim, Yvette Zavela, is a neighbor.
Zavela was in critical condition when taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center earlier this month, but has improved. A bullet struck the girl in the chest and lodged in her abdomen. She lost her spleen, one of her kidneys and part of her pancreas, but she is expected to recover, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Police arrested Carlos Granados, 19, the day after the shooting. Officers allegedly found explosives in his home.
