Sony Pictures Entertainment’s top communications executive, Bruce Redditt, has resigned. Redditt, who joined Sony Pictures in July 1995 after a nine-year career in telecommunications, will leave on Friday. He said he plans to join another media company by early May.
“Sony has been fabulous. I’ve had great support from [top U.S. executives] and from Tokyo,” said Redditt, 47. Redditt joked about Sony’s turnaround in fortunes last year, when Sony topped the box office after several dismal years. “When I came here, people said I was crazy. I told them, ‘You can’t fall down from the floor; the only place to go is up.’ It’s great to be leaving on an up note.”
