SPORT: Baseball
SEASON AT A GLANCE: McCauley, a shooting guard on the boys’ basketball team, is starting to hit a few shots on the baseball diamond. The second baseman, who bats lead-off, is batting .489 and has scored 23 runs. He has helped the Falcons to a first-place tie in the Pacific League despite joining the team late because of basketball commitments. “Usually, this time of year, he starts to warm up a little bit,” Coach Phil Torres said. “He did the same thing last year.”
WEEK AT A GLANCE: McCauley was 11 for 15, scored eight runs and had seven runs batted in during four games of the Babe Herman tournament, won by the Falcons. McCauley, the tournament’s most valuable player, had nine consecutive hits during in the Falcons’ first three tournament games.
