Freshman right-hander Casondra Acosta pitched a no-hitter, striking out six, and Sylmar High defeated North Hollywood, 5-0, in a Valley Pac-8 Conference softball game Friday at North Hollywood.
Veronica Ramos had two hits and two runs batted in for Sylmar (6-5, 3-0 in conference play).

Monroe 14, Grant 1--Cori Jordahl had two doubles, a triple and two RBIs, and Myrna Martinez had three hits and two RBIs for the Vikings (7-5, 4-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Grant. Noel Miranda hit a home run for Monroe.
Quartz Hill 3, Apple Valley 0--Jodie Cox pitched a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts for the Rebels (8-2-1) in a first-round victory in the High Desert tournament at Lancaster City Park.
Highland 11, Victor Valley 0--Kelly Presten pitched a one-hitter for Highland (9-1) in a first-round game of the High Desert tournament.
Burroughs 10, Rosamond 0--J.T. Tyler struck out 10 and pitched a no-hitter in a High Desert tournament first-round game shortened to five innings.
Shaland Romero hit a two-run home run for Burroughs (9-3).
Kennedy 6, Canyon 0--Karin Garcia had a two-run triple for the Golden Cougars (10-2) in a first-round game of the Highland tournament.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Royal d. Westlake, 15-2, 15-1, 15-7--Bryan Reistein had six kills for the Highlanders (8-0, 7-0) in a Marmonte League match at Royal.
Campbell Hall d. Marshall, 15-5, 15-0, 15-4--Larry Cole had 10 kills and 11 aces for the Vikings (5-1, 2-0) in an Alpha League match at Campbell Hall.
Littlerock d. Antelope Valley, 15-10, 15-8, 15-5--Chris Gorny had 17 kills for the Lobos (7-1, 2-0) in a Golden League match.
Quartz Hill d. Palmdale, 15-5, 15-4, 15-6--Brandon Butchart had 21 kills for the Rebels (6-1, 2-0) in a Golden League match at Quartz Hill.
Crespi d. Alemany, 15-13, 15-12, 15-7--Kevin Scully and James Spratt each had 14 kills for the Celts (8-1, 5-1) in a Mission League match at Alemany (6-4, 3-4).
Chaminade d. Notre Dame, 15-8, 15-6, 12-15, 15-13--Justin Beach had 19 kills for the Eagles (5-4, 3-4) in a Mission League victory at Notre Dame.
