City Study Aims to Entice Businesses to Lincoln Ave.

City officials will study demographic and regional trends in an effort to entice new businesses to a stretch of Lincoln Avenue that is undergoing a $6.5-million face lift.
“We would like more information that would help attract new uses,” Mayor Mary Ann Jones said after a workshop Monday. “We need this information to further identify and solicit new businesses that might come from outside the city.”
Jones said the research by staff members would help businesses decide whether to locate on Lincoln Avenue.
The massive project, extending from Coyote Creek Bridge to Valley View Avenue, will include changes to medians and sidewalks to make the street more accessible. Plans call for the work to begin in June and be completed in the summer of 1999.
