* Marina del Rey-based Quarterdeck Corp. said it expects to report a loss of “several million dollars” in the second quarter because net revenue will drop 20% to 25%. The software-development company said the revenue shortfall in the second quarter, compared with the previous period, came from pricing pressures in the U.S. retail market, outsourcing tele-sales operations, getting new products to market and deferred shipment of the newest products into international markets.
* Woodland Hills-based Litton Industries Inc. completed its $432-million purchase of TASC Inc. from Primark Corp. Reading, Mass.-based TASC, an information technology company, becomes a stand-alone unit within Litton’s Information Systems Group. R. Evans Hineman, a TASC executive vice president, was named president of the TASC subsidiary.
* Times Mirror Co. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Mark H. Willes’ combined salary and bonus rose 34% last year to $2.87 million, the Los Angeles-based company said in documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company said Willes’ pay was partly based on the company’s 50% increase in profit per share. Willes, who is also publisher of the Los Angeles Times, was paid a salary of $905,770, up 13.5% from 1996, and a bonus of $1.96 million, up 46%.
* Torrance-based Total Renal Care Holdings Inc. said it will take first-quarter charges of $130 million to $140 million related to its recent acquisition of Renal Treatment Centers Inc.
