MICHIGAN STATE SOFTBALL
* County connections: Shealee Dunavan and Margaret Hollis (Mater Dei) and Stefanie Noffsinger (Huntington Beach High).
* Worth noting: All three have been key players for the Spartans (20-7), who opened Big Ten Conference play with a three-game sweep of 15th-ranked Iowa Saturday and Sunday. Noffsinger, a senior pitcher, is 10-4 with a 1.12 earned-run average and 72 strikeouts. She ranks among the MSU career leaders in victories (third), shutouts (second), and strikeouts (third). Hollis, a sophomore third baseman/catcher, has a .356 batting average and is second on the team with 16 RBI. Dunavan, a freshman right fielder, is hitting .301.
