Major Renovation of Shopping Plaza OKd

Looking to help revitalize the Laguna Hills Shopping Plaza, the City Council approved a large-scale renovation of the 27-year-old retail center.
The revitalization plan for the plaza, at 24821 Alicia Parkway, will center around a 20,400-square-foot expansion of Chick’s Sporting Goods.
To make way for the expansion, the shopping center received permission from the council to raze a 6,000-square-foot bank and an additional 7,680 square feet of retail space.
The project passed on a 3-2 vote by the council, acting in its capacity as the city planning agency. Council members disagreed on several conditions of approval, including landscaping and sign issues.
