High School Principal to Take District Post
- Share via
Los Alamitos High School Principal Carol Hart will leave her post Monday to become a district administrator.
Hart was named assistant superintendent of instructional services by the Los Alamitos Unified School District.
She replaces Lorene Gonia, who left to become superintendent of the La Canada Unified School District in La Canada-Flintridge.
Hart became principal in 1985 and twice led the school to National Blue Ribbon awards from the U.S. Department of Education. Los Alamitos High is being considered for a third award.
Sherry Kropp, assistant principal at the high school, will serve as interim principal through the end of the school year.
A nationwide search is underway and a new principal could be in place by the end of the school year in June.
