The Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center needs volunteers to work with its Welcome Baby Program, which teams first-time parents with role models.
Mentors meet with young mothers and fathers of limited financial means who have no experience raising children. The purpose is to prevent child abuse.
Bilingual volunteers in particular are needed.
A training class for volunteers is scheduled for Oct. 7 and 9 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The center is at 2482 Newport Blvd., Suite 7, Costa Mesa.
Reservations are required.
