** Harp Recital. Mariko Anraku. (EMI Classics).

Anraku, a prize-winning harpist and member of the Metx Orchestra, demonstrates the serious side of her instrument in this mixed recital of transcriptions and original pieces. Hindemith’s attractive and characteristically sturdy Sonata and Salzedo’s Impressionistic, Technicolor Preludes anchor the program. Two Scarlatti sonatas, Satie’s Gymnopedie No. 1 and Debussy’s “La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin” emerge as viable for the instrument, but sometimes too relaxed in the reading. A robust account of Faure’s standard, the Impromptu, Opus 66, rounds out the disc of this virtuosic and sensitive musician.
