LOCAL NOTES

Garden Grove’s Jill Pearson, a freshman forward soccer player at Fresno State, was named to the All-Western Athletic Conference’s first team. She played at El Modena High.

Second-team honors went to Elicia Petre, a freshman midfielder at San Diego State who attended Dana Hills High, and Laurel Simpson, a junior sweeper at Brigham Young who played for Capistrano Valley High. The Aztecs also honored Petre as their rookie of the year.
