HUNTINGTON BEACH — An early morning neighborhood shooting left one man dead and another wounded Thursday, as police continued to search for the gunman.
Guadalupe Ramirez, 31, of Huntington Beach was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Carlos Guerrero, 22, was in critical condition at the hospital with gunshot wounds to the arm and body, Police Lt. Dan Johnson said.
Ramirez and Guerrero were standing outside of their apartment on Saur Street about 12:45 a.m. when they were approached by a man who spoke to them briefly and then shot them, Johnson said.
The two men staggered back to their apartment, where police found them.
Investigators know of no motive for the shooting, Johnson said.
Police released a sketch of the gunman, whom they described as a Latino in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and last seen wearing blue pants and a gray sweatshirt.
