New Coach Walks Out on St. Genevieve

James Sims, recently hired as St. Genevieve High football coach, unexpectedly quit earlier this week and confirmed Wednesday night that he has taken the head job at Bishop Montgomery.
Sims would have been the Valiants’ fifth coach in six seasons. He would not elaborate on his decision.
“It’s not necessary for you to know the particulars of the transition,” Sims said.
Senior wide receiver Christopher Merrin said Sims left abruptly before Tuesday’s practice without speaking to the team.
“Another player started leading practice and the assistants told us that he quit,” Merrin said.
Vinny Pisano, a former St. Genevieve quarterback who is helping coach the backs, said the move surprised him.
“He just up and quit,” Pisano said.
Phone calls to the St. Genevieve High office were not answered.
