Mechanic Arrested in Teen’s Seduction

A 23-year-old mechanic from Simi Valley will appear in Ventura County Superior Court today to answer a felony charge of having sex with a minor.
The 15-year-old that Jose Ramirez-Flores is accused of seducing is his girlfriend, according to Simi Valley Police Lt. Neal Rein.
Police arrested Ramirez-Flores on Saturday at his home in the 1500 block of Sutter Avenue. He was held at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
In addition to being accused of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, Ramirez-Flores, a native of El Salvador, was wanted on suspicion of violating parole, according to a jail spokeswoman. In addition, he was wanted for failing to pay a fine for driving under the influence, authorities said.
Unless a minor is lawfully wed, he or she can not legally consent to sex.
“Most of the time in these cases, the victim is not desirous of prosecution. And even though they may have consented to sex, they can not waive prosecution,” Rein said.
