Clinton’s Race Speech Only Rhetoric

Re: President Clinton’s race initiative.
I listened to the president’s speech dealing with racial harmony in the United States. While I think he did a wonderful job with the rhetoric of the bully pulpit, I would have been far more impressed had the president taken that opportunity to announce an executive order to the effect that henceforth no governmental application, program, entitlement or document would inquire of the applicant’s racial makeup. Henceforth citizens of the United States will not be categorized by racial categories.
As for me, my preference is to check off the box “other” and designate that I am “American.”
