Ann Polsky, 87, who fought for the cityhood of West Los Angeles. Polsky, a lifelong community activist, worked for the city incorporation in 1984 and became a member of the city’s Senior Advisory Council in 1992. She volunteered to call senior citizens and check on their health and welfare as a service of the West Hollywood Senior Citizens Center. Polsky was also active in the tenants rights group Coalition for Economic Survival. Born in Ukraine, she immigrated to Turkey and in 1925 to the United States. She had worked as a union organizer. Announced on Wednesday in West Hollywood.
