Park Amphitheater Plans to Be Analyzed

An environmental document gauging the impacts of a 16,000-seat amphitheater and golf course planned for a county park in Camarillo will be analyzed Wednesday by the county’s Environmental Review Committee.
The committee is scheduled to meet at 1:30 p.m. in the third-floor multipurpose room in the county Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura.
Members of the committee include representatives of county agencies for planning, air quality, public works, agricultural, fire and environmental health.
Their charge is to determine whether the document is technically adequate and meets the guidelines of the California Environmental Quality Act.
The meeting follows a 45-day public comment period, which ended Thursday, on the project’s environmental impact report.
The report concluded that the 375-acre project, designed as a moneymaker for the county Parks Department, would cause unavoidable impacts to traffic, noise and wildlife habitat in Camarillo Regional Park. The park sits between the Santa Monica Mountain foothills and Calleguas Creek.
The Board of Supervisors is expected to consider the project in July, county parks officials said.
