Parliament in Chaos; Students, Police Clash

From Times Wire Reports

Kenyan politicians fought inside parliament and riot police clashed with students as the opposition staged protests in Nairobi to press demands for sweeping constitutional reforms. Opposition members of parliament disrupted Finance Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s budget speech before the brawl with MPs of the ruling Kenya African National Union. University of Nairobi students protested in support of the opposition after state TV and radio cut off broadcasts of the chaotic proceedings in parliament. President Daniel Arap Moi has agreed to ease a tough law restricting public assemblies but ruled out any more constitutional reforms until after general elections to be held this year.
