ITS Federal, a Ventura-based provider of information technology services, was selected as principal subcontractor in two long-term federal contracts that could total as much as $180 million.
The two five-year contracts were awarded under the U.S. Small Business Administration 8a program--a preference program for disadvantaged or minority-owned companies--to Jorge Scientific Corp. of Arlington, Va., and Informax Data Systems of Los Angeles. Both companies are minority-owned.
Jorge and Informax are now eligible to bid for actual contracts solicited by federal agencies seeking computer equipment and services.
If either of the primary contractors wins a bid, ITS Federal can serve as a subcontractor, performing services such as hardware and software maintenance, network systems design and training for federal agencies worldwide.
Vice President and General Manager Rosanne Carranza said ITS Federal can perform up to 49% of the overall contracts, with potential revenues of up to $44 million over five years. Under 8a program guidelines, the primary contractor must perform at least 51% of a federal contract, Carranza said.
ITS Federal--a division of I.T.S. Corp.--was founded in Camarillo in 1974. The company employs 170 computer professionals at 40 locations throughout the United States.
Carranza said it is likely ITS Federal will be hiring to fulfill the expected subcontracts.
“We fully expect the contracts will allow us to build on what we have in place now, adding to our work force,” she said.
New positions could include network design and installation, network support, software-hardware maintenance and training and network management for turnkey positions.
