Medical Resources to Buy 2 Brea Firms

BREA — Medical Resources Management Inc. of Glendale signed letters of intent to buy Med Surg Specialties and SurgiCare Services, both of Brea, for a combination of cash and stock.

Med Surg, with revenue of about $1 million in 1996, provides mobile laser surgical services. SurgiCare Services is a development-stage company that repairs endoscopes used in minimally invasive surgical procedures for a unit of hospital operator Tenet Healthcare Corp. Medical Resources rents and sells mobile surgical laser equipment. The company reported revenue of $6.7 million in 1996.
