East Ventura All-Stars Simply Win

Keeping things spread out and simple, the East defeated the West, 5-3, Sunday in the Ventura County high school all-star baseball game at Moorpark College.
The East used six pitchers, who allowed six hits and induced 10 groundouts and seven flyouts. On offense, seven East batters produced nine hits but stranded 15 runners.
“I thought we had the better pitching and that was the difference in the game,” said East co-Coach Rick Nathanson (Calabasas). “We only had two signs for the hitters and runners: don’t steal and hit and run.”
Despite practicing together only twice, the East jumped to a 4-0 lead after four innings.
Jess Sanchez (Hueneme) had two hits for the West and starter David Arroyo (Buena) allowed two hits and an earned run in two innings. He walked four and hit two batters.
For the East, Josh Goldfield (Calabasas) had two hits, including a double, and Brian Fatur (Calabasas) and Scott Christensen (Oak Park) each had two hits.
