Re “Panel Seeks to Scrap April 15 Tax Deadline” (June 6), relating to the National Commission on Restructuring the IRS:
Who comes up with this stuff? These panel members have no common sense. Nobody likes to complete tax forms. The deadline could be May 15, June 15 or even Dec. 15. Unless you have a refund coming, most people will always wait until the last minute. As a small-business owner, I assure you that there is no problem getting W-2s and 1099s out by Jan. 31.
If the panel really wants to help small business, how about moving the June 15 and Sept. 15 estimated-tax deadlines back a month? That way, we would have 15 days after the end of each calendar quarter to pay taxes for the previous quarter. The current system forces us to pay the IRS before the quarter is even up.
