Incidents at DC Airports Disrupt Travel Schedules

WASHINGTON — Flights from Dulles International Airport were delayed more than an hour Wednesday after a man ran past a security screening area without being checked, while at National Airport, a blown fuse in the power supply disrupted the schedule.
About 2,000 passengers had to be rescreened at Dulles. Some flights were delayed, said a spokeswoman.
The person who ran through the checkpoint was not caught, but authorities said everyone in the secure area was rescreened.
The blown fuse at National Airport caused a communications problem, delaying some flights but causing no safety problems, said a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman. While the equipment was being repaired, the control tower and pilots used a backup radio system, she said.
