Quiksilver Second-Quarter Net Income Up 9%

COSTA MESA — Apparel manufacturer Quiksilver Inc. reported net income of $4.8 million, or 68 cents a share, for the second fiscal quarter ended April 30, 9% higher than the $4.4 million, or 61 cents a share, posted a year ago. Sales increased 12% to $60.8 million from $54.5 million. First-half net income totaled $6.5 million, or 93 cents a share, compared with $6.5 million, or 91 cents a share, for the year-earlier period. Sales grew 12% to $106.7 million from $95 million.
