17 Bikers Charged With Murder, Arson

From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Seventeen members of the Outlaws motorcycle gang were indicted on charges including murder, bombing, arson and racketeering in a long, bloody turf war with the rival Hells Angels. Two of the murder charges were for the 1993 killings of an elderly Illinois couple whose son--also a gang member--had been sent to death row in their deaths, but whose conviction was overturned last year. Members of the Detroit-based gang, many of them presidents and leaders of their local chapters, were charged under federal racketeering law.
