Labor Board Rules in Favor of Hotel Workers
- Share via
The National Labor Relations Board has sided with union workers who have been on strike at the Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas for five years, upholding the right of the strikers to return to their former jobs. Richard McCracken, attorney for Culinary Local 226, said the decision protects the rights of individual employees once the strike is settled. He said he expects the hotel to appeal the decision. The hotel was not immediately available for comment. About 500 members of four unions walked off the job at the Strip resort on Sept. 21, 1991, in a dispute over wages and benefits. It is the longest-running labor battle in the nation. There have been no negotiations in the strike for months. The hotel-casino has continued to operate with nonunion workers.
