A former U.S. Senate candidate was arrested on charges she tried to hire someone to kill her husband and an attorney, police said. Ruthann Aron, a Potomac, Md., developer and a member of the county planning board, was charged with two counts of soliciting to commit murder and was being held pending a bail hearing. Police were alerted by an informant, Montgomery County Deputy Chief Fred Ailes said. Police said the 54-year-old woman solicited an undercover police officer to kill her husband, Dr. Barry Aron, and Arthur G. Kahn, an attorney who had testified against her in a lawsuit. She was arrested hours after she delivered a $500 down payment to a hotel.
