Pier’s Dance Series Starts Next Month

The Santa Monica Pier Twilight Dance Series will begin its 13th season next month with Boozoo Chavez, the king of the zydeco.
Starting July 3, the free dance concerts will be held every Thursday until Sept. 4. The reggae, Latin, blues, jazz and rock concerts run from at 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., said the Santa Monica Pier Restoration Corp., one of the groups hosting the event.
The summer lineup features music from a myriad of genres and locales, including Third Street Promenade regulars The Red Elvises, who are scheduled to perform their Siberian renditions of the King’s popular songs on July 24--followed by El Vez, the Latin Elvis, and the Memphis Mariachis.
