‘I Really Want to Push Myself to the Limit’

Antonio Sabato Jr. readily admits that he is very hard on himself.
“I really want to push myself to the limit in everything that I do. I love to test myself. And I don’t like to work out like any other person,” he said.
It isn’t enough that the 25-year-old actor has already stopped hearts with his fineness on “General Hospital” and “Melrose Place” or stopped traffic with his black bikini’d likeness on a 90-foot billboard on Times Square as part of Calvin Klein’s underwear ad blitz.
“I would hate myself to be weak one day or not have the stamina to do a hard day of work,” explained the Rome-born Sabato, who recently finished shooting his first independent feature, “High Voltage.”
For a couple of years now, he has pushed himself to work out five mornings a week religiously. Sabato, who drinks a lot of water and never diets, alternates between two Marina del Rey trainers--Chris Steele for two hours of kick boxing at the Steele Boxer gym and Joe Sanceri for 90 minutes of power weight lifting, plus 1,000 to 2,000 sit-ups during the days he’s at the Marina Athletic Club.
Sabato, who has a 2 1/2-year-old son (Jack’s mother is actress Virginia Madsen) went on to say softly, “You know, for me every day is a fight and every day you’ve got to live up to your expectations. So, I have to be strong in every aspect and that’s hard because nobody’s perfect.”
No, but some folks are a sight closer than others.
