Tekelec Reports Profit Turnaround in 1st Quarter

Tekelec posted a profit turnaround in its first quarter while its revenues jumped 73%.
The Calabasas-based company posted net income of $1.63 million in the quarter that ended March 31, compared to a net loss of $3.97 million a year earlier.
Revenues in the latest quarter rose to $20.6 million, compared to $11.9 million a year ago.
The company said orders for its products were $25.1 million in its first quarter, up 122% from a year ago.
Tekelec supplies diagnostic systems used to test communications and networking equipment.
