PACOIMA — A man found dead Saturday morning on an embankment near a freeway offramp appeared to be a transient who died of natural causes, according to authorities.
The body’s discovery was reported to the Los Angeles Police Department at about 9 a.m., said Don Cox, a spokesman for the department.
Officers found the man in bushes near the Van Nuys Boulevard offramp of the northbound Golden State Freeway, Cox said.
Authorities described the man only as a 45-year-old Latino.
His identity was not revealed, pending notification of relatives, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said.
There was no sign of foul play, police said.
“It appears the man died of natural causes,” said Officer Mike Partain, adding that the exact cause of death will determined by an autopsy.
