Notre Dame, Wetzel Throw Harvard-Westlake for Loss

Christine Zahka hit a two-run single during a three-run first inning and Notre Dame High handed Harvard-Westlake its first loss of the season, 3-1, in a Mission League softball game Friday at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park.
Sophomore Patricia Wetzel (4-4) scattered six hits, struck out eight and walked none for the Knights (5-5, 1-1 in league play).
Zahka drove in Karen Tobin and Michelle Barraza, and later scored on a wild pitch.
Becca Goldfarb hit a run-scoring single in the third for Harvard-Westlake (14-1, 1-1), ranked ninth in The Times’ regional poll.
Anna Russell (13-1) pitched a five-hitter and struck out nine.
Louisville 11, Flintridge Sacred Heart 0--Becky Witt drove in three runs with three hits and Stefanie Urman (8-4) gave up a leadoff single but held the Tologs (7-6, 0-2) hitless the rest of the way in a Mission League game at Tarzana Park that was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Urman struck out four and walked none, and drove in two runs with two hits for the Royals (8-4, 1-1). Jemma Santos added a triple and a solo home run.
Hueneme 6, San Marcos 0--Emma Stevens’ two-run single highlighted a four-run sixth inning in a Channel League game at Hueneme.
Jerusha Hiner had two hits for the Vikings (4-7, 2-4).
Moorpark 5, Santa Paula 3--Freshman Davis Beck had a home run and three RBIs for the Muskeeters (8-4, 6-1) in a Frontier League game at Moorpark.
Calabasas 8, Santa Clara 3--Kelly Cheever and Sara Hall each had three hits and three RBIs for the Coyotes (5-8, 4-3) in a Frontier League game at Calabasas.
