Palmdale Surprised by Saugus

Saugus High scored six runs in the fifth inning and added four with two out in the seventh to upset Palmdale, 12-9, in a nonleague baseball game Saturday at Palmdale.
Brent Pellico’s two-run double in the seventh was the key blow, giving the Centurions (7-7-1) a 10-9 lead.
Pellico and Justin Babin each hit two-run home runs in the fifth, when Saugus pulled to within 9-8.
Palmdale (13-3) led, 9-2.
In other baseball games:
North Hollywood 6, Banning 4--Jose Avila’s two-out, two-run single snapped a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning and lifted the Huskies (15-2) in a pool-play game of the Redondo tournament at North Hollywood.
Thousand Oaks 9-5, Canyon 6-4--John Smith had two home runs, a double and five RBIs for the Lancers (8-7) in a nonleague doubleheader at Thousand Oaks.
In the second game, Thousand Oaks scored three runs in the seventh to erase a 4-2 deficit. Two runs scored on a throwing error and the third was forced in when Mike Reinhart was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
SOFTBALL
Moorpark 2-0, Rio Mesa 1-8--Freshman Davis Beck’s two-run double in the seventh inning lifted the Musketeers (7-3) in the first game of a nonleague doubleheader at Rio Mesa (10-2), but Moorpark committed nine errors in the second game.
Chaminade 1-0, St. Paul 0-2--Lauren Rousselet scored from third on Jaime Carlson’s ninth-inning single to lift the Eagles (6-5) in the first game of a nonleague doubleheader at Chaminade.
Chaminade was held to four hits in the second game.
