MCI Computer Error Caused Overcharges

MCI Communications Corp. said a computer error caused residential local phone customers to be overcharged on their April bills. Customers should have been billed $24.95 for unlimited local and local toll calling in California for the month. Corrected bills will be sent to customers immediately, said Susan Landis, a customer service representative for the Washington-based phone company.
