Laguna Hills, Freshman; Softball/Left Fielder
Simien, the Hawks’ leadoff batter, broke out of a slump at an opportune time. Saturday with two outs in the sixth inning, she singled to drive in the winning run in a 2-1 victory over Division I power Thousand Oaks in the Fountain Valley tournament. In another game Saturday, she scored both runs in a 2-1 victory over Marina.

* Mission Viejo, junior. Won the high jump (5 feet 4), long jump (17-3 1/4) and 100 hurdles (14.77) at the Trabuco Hills Invitational.
Heather Culver/Softball/Pitcher
* Villa Park, senior. Pitched a no-hitter with nine strikeouts in a 3-0 victory over Loara.
Mary Petrie/Softball/Pitcher
* Bolsa Grande, senior. Pitched a one-hitter in victory over Rowland Heights Rowland and five-hitter in victory over Ocean View in Canyon tournament.
