Leanore Isabel Minghini; Volunteer Aided Disadvantaged Youth

Leanore Isabel Minghini, 82, community volunteer who aided disadvantaged young people. Minghini, a native of Glendora, served on the Los Angeles County Crime Commission. She began her volunteer efforts in schools, quickly learning the needs and problems of at-risk youth. She was president of Project HEAVY, an acronym standing for Human Efforts Aimed at Vitalizing Youth, and president of Friends Unlimited, which attempted to prevent juvenile delinquency. She was also president of the Youth Conservation Project and of the Arca Assns. of the San Fernando Valley Coordinating Council. As she grew older, Minghini began working with citizens at the other end of life. She served as vice president of the advisory council of the Santa Clarita Senior Center, coordinator of the Silver Service Group and a member of the Committee on Aging. Interested in many problems, she also worked with the Newhall Civic Assn. Tree People and elementary schools. On March 29 in Santa Clarita.
