A suspect in the stabbing death of an Agua Dulce man was arrested Monday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The suspect, 37-year-old John Hale, was sighted by Los Angeles police officers earlier Monday. With the LAPD’s help, sheriff’s homicide detectives arrested him, said Sheriff’s Sgt. David Halm. No details of the sighting or arrest were available.
Hale was being held at the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station on $1 million bail, Halm said.
Hale is suspected of fatally stabbing Allen Dale Ward, 36, at a home in the 15100 block of Sierra Highway in Agua Dulce on Saturday. Hale allegedly fled into the hills surrounding the residence, where deputies hunted for him for two hours without success.
Sheriff’s officials said they believe Ward was arguing with his girlfriend when Hale intervened and attacked Ward. Ward was pronounced dead at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia.
