SuperSonics’ Slump Continues

Center Olden Polynice scored nine of his 15 points in a decisive third quarter Sunday night, lifting the Sacramento Kings to a 113-101 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics.

Despite the return to the starting lineup of Shawn Kemp following a four-game benching for disciplinary reasons, Seattle lost for the fourth time in its last seven games.

Chicago 110, Orlando 94--Michael Jordan scored 37 points to move into fifth place on the career scoring list at Orlando. Chicago also clinched home-court advantage in the Eastern Conference.

Jordan moved past Oscar Robertson (26,710) with 26,726 points.

Utah 114, Golden State 100--Karl Malone scored 30 points and Greg Ostertag tied a career-high with 21 at San Jose as the Jazz won for the 12th consecutive time.

Indiana 94, Minnesota 83--Rik Smits had 27 points and 11 rebounds at Minneapolis as the Pacers remained two games behind the Bullets and 1 1/2 games behind the Cavaliers for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot and also prevented the Timberwolves from clinching their first playoff berth.

Washington 120, Boston 114--Chris Webber and Juwan Howard scored 31 points each at Boston as the Bullets continued their playoff surge.

Houston 94, Vancouver 85--The Rockets set a franchise record for road victories with 25, and Charles Barkley’s 28 points moved him past Hal Greer for 17th place on the career scoring list.
