Film-Going Flock

* Ever since the Edwards 21 Theaters Megaplex opened near my home, almost everyone has gone there, even myself, I admit sadly, to fulfill all their movie needs.
You have to feel sorry for the rest of the movie theaters within a 20-mile radius of the megaplex since most of their business has gone to the Irvine Spectrum. I don’t really understand what makes this happen.
Besides more selection and a small shopping center (which, I must say, is pretty unique), there’s not that many advantages in going to the “big one.” Parking is always a hassle (unless you use valet), the lines are enormous, the theaters are smaller (except for four huge ones), you always have to push your way through crowds, and your movie is sometimes sold out before you get there.
On one ridiculous occasion, I had to wait in a line for 45 minutes before getting in to see “Ransom.”
So why do people choose the megaplex instead of other local theaters, which are, by far, much more convenient? Well, you know what they say, follow the crowd.
