City Again Honored for Growing Trees
The city is being honored by the National Arbor Day Foundation for its efforts to promote and preserve trees.
The foundation has notified city officials that Cypress this year is being designated as a “Tree City USA.” Cypress has been cited in seven previous years, city officials said.
To be honored, communities must meet four requirements: have a tree board or department; pass a tree ordinance; develop a community forestry program; and hold an Arbor Day observance.
Among tree projects in Cypress this year is a drive by Friends of Cypress Recreation and Parks to get tree donors. Information: (714) 229-6780.
