It’s a Rough Game for Outlaw

Clipper swingman Charles Outlaw--who cut his tongue when he was hit by Utah Jazz forward Stephen Howard, who drew a flagrant foul, with 37 seconds remaining in Saturday night’s 107-94 loss at Utah--has taken more hits than a boxer.
“I think I’m in the wrong place at the right time,” Outlaw said. “Getting hit comes with the territory sometimes.
“I don’t know why I seem to get hit more than anyone else. I guess I’ve always got my nose in something. Where the ball is is where I want to be. There’s a little contact and occasionally you’re going to get tripped up and fall.
“It’s no problem. I just try to bounce back.”

Clipper forward Loy Vaught, who surpassed Bob McAdoo as the leading rebounder in franchise history when he got his 4,230th career rebound in last Sunday’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, was honored before Sunday’s victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Vaught, averaging 10.3 rebounds, has 4,275 rebounds while McAdoo has 4,229.
“It’s a great honor,” Vaught said. “I’m proud to achieve it. I feel like I’ve really accomplished something.”

Clipper swingman Eric Piatkowski, who missed Saturday night’s game at Utah because of an inner ear infection, was in uniform Sunday night, but was held out of the game by Coach Bill Fitch.
