OXNARD — The body of a 43-year-old transient was found Saturday afternoon in the Santa Clara River near Oxnard, authorities said.
Danny Smith, who authorities said lived in the river bottom, likely died of natural causes, according to a coroner’s spokesman. An autopsy will be performed.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department was notified around 2 p.m. of the body, which was found south of the Santa Clara River Bridge of the Ventura Freeway.
