Stars’ Hatcher Has Knee Surgery

Derian Hatcher, the Dallas Stars’ all-star defenseman, will be out of the lineup for seven to 10 days after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair torn knee cartilage. . . . The Chicago Blackhawks signed Russian center Dmitri Nabokov, their first-round pick in the 1995 draft, to a multiyear contract. The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Nabokov, 20, just completed his first season in North America with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League, scoring 39 goals and 95 points in only 50 games.
